Electric Luminaires

These forms are large, hand thrown porcelain versions of the  candle lanterns .  Lighting with an electric lamp is a safe alternative to candles and this type of luminaire is most effective at  illuminating  areas  difficult to light with conventional overhead lighting.It creates a warm inviting atmosphere. The light of the lamp is directional; the pattern of light  created  covers an area  with  several feet of delicate light lace, patterning ceilings as well as walls.The effect can be elegant in quietly enhancing the subtle surface  color of tiles and polished slabs of stone like granite or fine woods like maple and  oak.The lamps, left on at night, make an excellent night light.

The lamps are beautiful unlit;however, when lit, are most effective with clear low wattage bulbs from 10 to 25 watt,120 volt.If you opt to change the  lace pattern to a soft glow simply replace the clear bulb with a frosted variety.There are a host of colored and specilaty bulbs to experiment with. All lamps come completely wired, with a UL/ CSA  approved  standard porcelain socket and bulb a,2 prong safety cord with line switch. The base is mahogany. We make a small, medum, and large globe lamp. The large one is shown here, both lit and unlit. The majority of our work is off-white, a naturally ocurring  american clay.
